In depth
Only a short drive away from Athens, lie the remains of a once glorious city, whose fame and prosperity in antiquity could only be matched by the ancient Mediterranean’s finest, such as Athens, Rome, Alexandria, and Byzantium.
Corinth was a city with a superbly strategic location, which made it always be at the heart of history: from the dawn of Greek civilization which finds its sailors braving the Mediterranean Sea with their lightning-fast triremes; to its later rise under the Roman Empire as an extravagantly opulent commercial hub. And most importantly, in the 1st century AD, when a man walked its beautiful marble streets, carrying a message of wisdom, love, and salvation: Saint Paul. The apostle made Corinth his home for a year and a half, and his subsequent letters to the Corinthians – the Christian community that he personally founded in the city – have been amongst the dearest to the hearts of Christians, for the past 2,000 years. This is the gift of Corinth to its visitors: walking around its ancient streets, you too are at the heart of the history of Western civilization.
Despite our love for ancient Corinth, we believe that an excursion to this beautiful corner of the Peloponnese without a little more exploration would be an opportunity lost. Thus, we created an optional, one-of-a-kind itinerary, that fuses the historical immersion at Corinth with an array of activities which lie at the very heart of Greek culture. First order of business: food. Being at a non-touristy region, means that there is a plethora of locals-only, traditional tavernas that serve amazing food. Then: swimming. It is not a proper Greek vacation if you let even a single day go by without diving into sapphire-coloured waters, and the region boasts numerous tiny, beautiful beaches – if you are in the know.
